Saving Sharks with Sophi – Blog 20 – “Tagging My Shark”
Blog 20 Tagging my Shark
I went out on the ocean today to tag my shark “Captain Curt”. I was very excited when I left the dock on Captain Curt’s boat. My uncle, Captain Curt, was super excited too! My Auntie Kelli, my Dad, my friend Chad, Dr. Neil and the Fox National News came with me. I am going to be on TV again with Fox – in all of the states this time. We got 5 sharks today. One was my 7 foot Bull shark – I named him “Captain Curt” because my Uncle showed me sharks and the ocean. It was awesome!!
I learned all about the black dots on a shark’s nose. (ampullae of lorenzini) They are the shark’s electric sense. The shark can feel prey for like a mile away or something. They think, “oh, there’s something good to eat around here,” and they go eat it!
After “Captain Curt” was tagged, we put him back into the water and he pushed Dr. Neil right off the boat! He was ok though, just wet. Once “Captain Curt” swam away, we did the Bull Shark dance.
“Captain Curt” already came to the surface, so now I can follow him on my computer in MN. I can’t wait to show my friends. Now I am going to save up for another shark tag – my Mom says I am over a ¼ of the way there. I don’t know what kind of shark I will get next?!
