Your donation to the University of Miami Shark Research and Conservation Program supports shark research, conservation, and marine science education in South Florida and beyond.

Donations help fund research expeditions, satellite and acoustic tags, underwater receivers, field and laboratory equipment, data analysis, student training, and educational opportunities for local students and community partners. Every contribution helps us better understand sharks and rays, identify important habitats, and provide science that supports effective conservation and management.

General donations of any amount are welcome. Donors who give at one of the Adopt-a-Shark levels below will also receive the associated adoption benefits.

Adopt-a-Shark Donation Levels

Name-a-Shark — $60

You will be randomly paired with a tagged shark and may select a name for your adopted shark.

You will receive:

• An SRC sticker
• A personalized adoption certificate with your selected name
• A species photograph and shark facts

Choose-a-Shark — $120

Choose your preferred shark species and select a name for your adopted shark.

You will receive:

• An SRC sticker
• A personalized adoption certificate with your selected name
• A species photograph and shark facts

Tag-a-Shark — $600

Help fund an acoustic tag used to study shark movement, habitat use, and connectivity.

You will receive:

• Biannual updates when your shark is detected
• An SRC sticker
• A personalized adoption certificate with your selected name
• A species photograph and shark facts

Sat-Tag-a-Shark — $3,000

Help fund a satellite tag and track your shark’s movements online for approximately one year.

You will receive:

• Online access to track your shark’s movements for approximately one year
• A custom profile for your shark and the story behind its name on our website
• Exclusive updates about SRC research from our director
• An SRC sticker
• A personalized adoption certificate with your selected name
• A species photograph and shark facts
