The Story Behind the Name:
Leona d’Shark is the feminine equivalent of Donald Leon Glucksman, who in life seeked and indeed pursued pelagics in their watery realm.
Donald was a vascular and general surgeon mostly operating out of Mt. Sinai in Miami Beach and was an embarrassing winner of amateur tennis tournaments and softball games. In his youth he also excelled in swimming and that in his later years helped keep Parkinson’s and his other ailments at bay. He was lost to us on November 14th, 2014.
His wife, Margarita P. Muina, (an ongoing tax/international law practitioner), and his son, David Sassoon Glucksman, a psychologist and father of two boys (who in fact are the real adopters of Leona), will carry Donald within them for as long as they live.
Satellite Tagging:
Leona d’Shark was carefully tagged with the latest in satellite tag technology providing us with the first opportunity to follow the long-term movements of these threatened species. Please keep checking back frequently to follow Leona d’Shark’s movements, which will be updated every few days as her satellite tag continues to send us real-time tracking data.
